Product Description
Much like the waistlines of America, the aisles of your grocery store are straining under the weight of too much food. There are more than 40,000 products lining the shelves of your local supermarket, and with every product comes a whole new host of inflated label claims: “zero trans fat!” “Cholesterol free!” “Good source of 9 vitamins and minerals!” The problem is these claims are just as bogus as the hyped-up foods they’re trying to sell. • Many products are left out like. Here is one example:

Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Oats ‘n Honey, 12-Count Boxes (Pack of 12)

This is a best selling product. I am not surprised this book is successful in this society

  • I haven’t recieved the product so I have no way of reviewing it. How do i get my money back or get the book?

  • First FULL Disclosure: I am a REAL M.D. (board certified internal medicine) and I actually was taught NUTRITION in medical school (OHSU, Portland OR). We no longer shop at WHOLEFOODS because of the CEO’s statements about health care. I have actually read this book and the original comments still hold … I agree to eat better might cost a bit more … Instead of books, check out the websites for the Linus Pauling Institute. Based at Oregon State University, there is a lot of information to help you choose wisely at the store.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: These books are great for people who are clueless but I dare say that the “eat this / NOT THAT” choices don’t hold up to true science. Why be tempted at the grocery store? We started shopping at Whole Foods and there is virtually NO TEMPTATION because they only stock real WHOLEsome foods. Now I realize they are not everywhere in the USA, but even SAFEWAY has a healthy food area and I’m sure ALL markets will have this sooner or later. The PUBLIC is getting WISER. So why bother with a book like this … just learn to read the nutrition labels and compare products side by side. Avoid the HYPE and just EAT HEALTHY.

One Final Thought … BUY Local and IN SEASON. Should be cheaper and higher quality. Look for FARMER’s MARKETS in your area. GOOD LUCK and STAY WELL.

  • You might think this is an insane claim. Well let me tell you a little of what makes a book good in my opinion. One, there is a beginning middle and an end. I bought this book, I read this book. I threw it in the trash. Guess what? There is no ending. I like resolution, closure if you will. True story when my wife died, I was in the other room. Didn’t get a chance to hear her last words. Now did I cry and go marry a man like my son? No I had the doctor bring her back to life so I could hear her last words. And guess what? It wasn’t worth it, said something about dinner. I mean the nerve of that woman. I’m glad she died, well not really. It’s actually really sad and probably why I’m such a drunk these days. Anyway this book’s last words were even dumber, something like eat up or din din, or chicken is the other white meat. Other white meat!?! In Korea we had one white meat, except it was yella and looked like the thigh of a dead Korean soldier. I’m sure this book would say “oh don’t eat that it’s human flesh you’re a cannibal” Sorry Mr. educated Liberal with your hassidic media and organic foods made my organic immigrants. When it comes to eating I got one rule – “does it taste good with ketchup?” If the answer is yes then I’m eating. And that’s why I’ve never dated a Russian girl. This book talks about how to survive in the supermarket but never once mentions how to clean a gun or which blade is best used in close proximity. It’s suggestions for creating bombs out of household products are nowhere to be found. So yeah good luck surviving in the supermarket, but look out for the parking lot because I’ll be watchin

  • There is no legitimate science or health behind these recommendations. The book suggests avoid high calorie foods, but that is meaningless unless you consider portions and exercise. You need calories to live. There is nothing wrong with calories. Just limit your consumption to your needs.
