It starts off with breastfeeding. Aside from its length the first chapter was a put off for me because the author seems biased about breastfeeding and a couple of other points. If a women weren't intending to or for some reason couldn't breastfeed, this chapter and this author may make her feel guilty which is unfortunate and certainly not what a mom with a newborn needs. I am pregnant now and plan to breastfeed because I agree with the benefits, but women during this time should receive support with whatever they choose (bottle or breast). Encouragement to breastfeed is probaly a good thing, but I just didn't like the vibe from this book...at least so far. Maybe I haven't read more yet because of the initial turn off. I rate it with 3 stars because I like a lot of details and this book appears to be fairly clear and practical for the new mom. Overall, you probably wouldn't regret buying the book, but as with me, you may want plan to buy others on newborns for various opinions so you may reach your own conclusions on how to mother your child.
