I had noticed several months ago that a lot of bottles were amazingly cheap being marked down, not knowing of the BPA scare. We are due in early September, so we have been buying stuff ahead of time, and after reading an article about BPA while having my cars oil changed one day, it really opened my eyes. Do I think plastic bottles are severly harmful? NO. But I do like the idea of it being a more natural way to feed- what goes into the bottle is exactly what comes out- which is GREAT for me because I pump and love the idea of being able to store it in the refridgerator- unlike plastic bottles.

I have looked at several different glass bottles, and found the Munchkin bottle to be my favorite for many reason- it is lighter in weight, more comfortable in the hand, and the silicone-colored glove gives it strength against being dropped as well as a stylish twist. Another one of my concerns was ventilation. With my 2yr old son, we used VentAire and loved them, and although VentAire is now making BPA free bottles, I still love the idea of glass more, but the Munchkin bottle has a vented nipple that helps vent air flow to reduce gas and colic.
This is one of the newer items I can officially say I am excited about and cant wait to use on my baby.
Oh- and as for the “breakage” part, although we have carpet in every room, I do plan to switch to BornFree plastic bottles once the baby starts throwing their bottle

I bought these bottles to use in my daycare. I like the shape and weight of the bottle but the nipples that are included collapse and are difficult for the baby to get the milk out. Also the nipple covers do not snap on the collar they just sit and therefore pretty useless.

I tried one of these bottles, hoping it would be an easier to clean alternative to Dr Brown’s bottles, which we use normally, and was disappointed. While it apparently vented well, the second time I cleaned it, I poked my finger through the nipple. The bottle itself if still quite usable, and is a standard size, so it can be used with other nipples, or attached to a breast pump. We’ll be sticking with Dr Brown’s glass bottles for feeding, and Evenflo glass bottles for storage, since I find glass cleans more easily than plastic, and doesn’t retain scent. I’ve dropped glass baby bottles on a tile floor with no breakage, so I’m not too concerned about that being a safety issue. If Munchkin started making sturdier nipples, I think these wold be a great option.

It’s a glass bottle. It’s the same as all other glass bottles. What makes it different is the shape. It’s VERY comfortable to hold. My little guy likes to whip his head around. With other glass bottles, the bottle goes flying unless I really grip. With this one, it’s easier to hold onto.
I should note that the neck is NOT standard. The only collars that will fit this bottle are the ones that come with it. As in you can not take an Evenflo nipple collar and use it on the Munchkin bottle. It doesn’t fit. However, it is a standard collar hole, so you can put any nipple you want in it.
Which is good because the Munchkin nipples are TERRIBLE. The concept is GREAT! I LOVE the idea of having a small cross hole for self regulating flow and a 0-6 month age range! The vent thing was a bit weird looking and seemed pointless to me, but I just went with it. I’ve used many different nipples in my day, as this is my 3rd child. These are by far the worst. The flow rate is very cool. My son does like that he can control and choose how fast or slow he wants it to be. So he loves this nipple. For the whole 2 minutes it is filled. I have never seen a nipple that flattened so quickly. And to get it to pop back out you literally have to take the whole collar off AND squeeze the nipple to pop it back into shape.
I normally love all Munchkin products. I have yet to find one I dont like. While the bottle itself is awesome, the nipple is so bad that I wish I hadn’t paid for it. And the lack of compatibility for the collar also is a little annoying.
I bought some of the Walmart brand nipples (Parent Choice) and they have (surprisingly) been the best I’ve used. They fit nicely in the Munchkin collar and on the bottle.
So I dont feel totally ripped off with buying this bottle. Again, the shape is really great and nice to hold. I will probably buy it again, but think I am going to wait and see if I can buy them on sale.
So, as the title says, the bottle is great, but the nipple quality is so poor it brings the rating down. The bottle would get a 4 star rating and the nipple would get a negative rating if I could.

I bought these at Target b/c they were far more economical than Born Free/Medela brands, which is what we have in the way of plastic bottles. Mistake on my part! Invest in higher quality bottles. 3 of 4 nipples we bought tore through when washing for the 1st time (as mentioned in other reviews on Amazon). Our daughter is 9 months old, and this has never happened with any of our other nipples in that entire time. Also, when I fed her from the bottle in the middle of the night, there was a continuous leaking air sound, which made me paranoid that it was going to give our little one a serious tummy ache. After trying to fix it a couple of times (not easy in the middle of the night w/a fussy baby waiting to be fed!), I finally gave up and breastfed instead. This bottle and the nipples will be going straight to the recycle bin, and next time I’ll assume the correlation between price and quality.
