Product Description
A breakthrough approach for a good night’s sleep–with no tears There are two schools of thought for encouraging babies to sleep through the night: the hotly debated Ferber technique of letting the baby “cry it out,” or the grin-and-bear-it solution of getting up from dusk to dawn as often as necessary. If you don’t believe in letting your baby cry it out, but desperately want to sleep, there is now a third option, presented in Elizabeth Pantley’s sanity-s… More >>

This book was a complete waste of paper. Most of the ideas in it are simply common sense. The other ideas were completely bogus. My favourite was inventing a phrase like “its ok, go back to sleep” and supposedly this phrase would magically make your child lay his head back down on the mattress and pass out within seconds. It was expected that in a month or 2 you would see results, which is completely laughable in my opinion. All children eventually learn to fall asleep on their own and most of them probably do it on their own before any of the ridiculous ideas in this book even start to have an effect. The writer has absolutely no education in the field of pediatrics and presents no scientific proof of success to back up her ideas. If you’re prepared to spend countless hours in the middle of the night applying Elizabeth Pantley’s method, then by all means, by this book. But if you want efficient, long-lasting results within days, it would be better to invest your money in a quicker and more effective book such as “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child”. Or better yet, don’t be such a weak parent and go with Richard Ferber’s variation of the “cry-it-out” approach. Which, despite popular belief, is actually a very gentle yet effective way to help your child sleep better and by himself.

This book was the most disgusting thing I have ever read in my entire life, thus far! I cannot belive that someone would want this lifestyle for themselves or their child. This is not the way to prepare a child that needs to listen and obey you, because when you follow this book, all you are doing is listening and obeying them! Whether your child is 5 months or 35 months, this book will take you straight to disaster! Every peice of literature this author has is all from phycologists that have “theories”. If you want something CONCRETE…Go Read Ezzo’s Babywise. Every thing in that book is solid PROOF from PEDIATRICIANS! So, please take it from me! I am a mother of a 3 year old and a 2 year old, and no one has the time or the sanity to do this bullcrap! So if you really want a straight-jacket in your size, abide by the teachings in this God forsaken book! But if you want something real with AMAZING results, Try Babywise! You will thank me!

There are many books far better than this one! Some of the ideas will make you laugh! You know your child better than anyone else. Go with their cues and put them down awake and try hard to put up with a little crying. It truly works! Good luck!

Sorry but this book is just not a good read or useful. I tried it after a friend introduced me to attachment parenting and I thought I would try it. Well we had children around the same time and while my 3 year old is happily sleeping through the night and potty trained, hers is still completely dependent on mommy, in diapers and wont’ sleep through the night unless she is sandwiched in between mommy and daddy. Sorry but I guess it’s no surprise why my 3 year old has a sibling and her does not despite the fact she wants one. I just don’t think these “gentle” methods work!
